Anne: How is your grandmother doing?
Saori: She hasn't gotten worse, but she hasn't gotten better, either, of course.
Sean: Is something wrong with your grandmother?
Saori: She's had Alzheimer's for a while now. She sometimes doesn't recognize my grandfather these days.
Anne: How long have they been married?
Saori: I think around 60 years.
Sean: That's a long time to be with someone and not know who they are. It must be sad for your grandfather.
Saori: Yeah. But he takes it well.
Anne: You've been helping out your aunt who's been taking care of your grandmother, right?
Saori: Yeah, my mom and I try to go on the weekends to help out. My aunt is such a hard worker, I wish she'd let us help her more. She quit her job as a teacher to take care of my grandmother, who's her mother. Her husband just had treatment for a stomach ulcer last month, and their dog died a few months ago.
Sean: Wow. Sounds like your aunt has a lot on her plate.
Anne: I'm sure she appreciates you and your mom, Saori.
