音声を聞いてみよう

 東京在住の日米夫婦・健一とレイチェルが主人公。「これ英語で何て言うのかな?」を考えます。

    軒並み across the board

Rachel: I thought I'd enjoy teleworking more. I do enjoy some parts of it, like the fact that I can work in my pajamas if I want to, and that I can have lunch with you, but I crave a change of scenery and miss my colleagues more than I thought I would.

Kenichi: (Jokingly) I enjoy having you around more than I thought I would, too.

    Rachel: Hey! (Laughs)

Kenichi: I'm lucky that as a freelance designer working from home, I haven't lost that much work amid all of this.

Rachel: That's true. Most of our freelance friends who work in interpretation say that their gigs have been canceled across the board because of the coronavirus. Maya was supposed to accompany a group of anti-nuclear activists to New York this month, but that was canceled, as were most of her other interpretation jobs she had arranged to do in Japan.

Kenichi: Yeah. She says she has almost no income this month, except for some translation work she got from a friend.

Rachel: And Masahiko says that he has no work as an interpreter guide now, so he's trying to find translation work to tide him over, too.

Kenichi: It sounds like the two of us are pretty lucky.
