今週のフレーズ slack off
Saori: Where have you been?
Anne: In a business meeting with some people in New York.
Sean: Did the advertising department ask you to interpret for them?
Anne: Yes. Did they ask you, too?
Sean: Yeah, but I said "no." I'm not trained to interpret.
Anne: Neither am I, but I didn't know that saying "no" was an option.
Saori: What's all this about?
Sean: A guy from the advertising department came here to ask if anyone could interpret for them in a meeting. I was the only one here aside from our boss, and I said that I didn't feel qualified to do it. So they left.
Anne: And the guy must've caught me walking into our building afterward. He asked me to do it, and I said that I would do it if my boss said it was OK. He called our boss right there. So I didn't even have time to come to my desk and put my stuff down. The meeting was about to begin.
Sean: I wonder who was slacking off and leaving them without an interpreter for a meeting with New York just minutes before it was supposed to start.
Saori: How did it go?
Anne: (Sighing) It was pretty rough.
