Rachel: I wonder if we would've been friends if we'd met as kids.
Kenichi: We wouldn't have met because I was in Japan and you were in the U.S.
Rachel: Just try to imagine our past as if our physical location wasn't a consideration. You know, if both of us were in Japan or both of us were in the U.S. Or even a completely different country.
Kenichi: I'm not sure we would've been friends. I was pretty naughty.
Rachel: Your mom told me you were incorrigible.
Kenichi: What does that mean?
Rachel: That you were more than she could handle.
Kenichi: That's definitely true.
Rachel: I can't imagine you being too much to handle. You're quiet now.
Kenichi: I got it out of my system as a kid. What were you like?
Rachel: I think I was precocious and annoyed adults with my know-it-all attitude.
Kenichi: So we were both incorrigible?
Rachel: And we both mellowed out as we got older. Maybe that's why we get along so well.
Kenichi: Hmm. I don't know if you've mellowed out that much.
Rachel: Is that a backhanded way of saying we're not a good match?
Kenichi: See? (Laughing) I never said that! You're still too much to handle!
