OSAKA -- Following the apology and resignation of Nihon University (Nichidai) American football club head coach Masato Uchida over a dirty tackle, Kwansei Gakuin University on May 20 released a statement by the father of the school's injured player seeking an explanation of the incident.

"No one has explained why the Nichidai player made such a play and (Uchida) has not spoken about whether or not he ordered the tackle, so I cannot say that I am satisfied with the handling of the incident," the father said.

His son was injured when a Nichidai player tackled the Kwansei Gakuin quarterback a while after he had released the ball during a game between the schools on May 6.

In his statement, the parent also called for the Kantoh Collegiate Football Association, of which Nichidai is a member, to conduct a thorough investigation of what happened on the field that day.

Kwansei Gakuin has requested a concrete explanation of what happened and why from Nichidai, and the latter is to reply to the request by May 24.
